Founder, Principal Lawyer
My name is Alexa Young
I pursued my legal education in the United Kingdom, earning a Law Degree (LLB) from the University of Birmingham and a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Bristol. Following the successful completion of the Ontario legal licensing process, I was called to the Bar of Ontario.
At the heart of the firm is the conviction that legal advocacy is a form of service. I am passionate about supporting charities and not-for-profits in the vital work they do. Having advised a diverse range of organizations—from large-scale international charities and national entities with complex regulatory needs to small, community-based groups—I provide strategic counsel at every stage, from initial CRA registration to ongoing governance and regulatory compliance. Beyond my work with charities and non-profits, I also provide corporate legal services for businesses, wills and estates planning, and notary services.
My practice is centered on being a faithful steward, treating your charitable mission, business, and estate matters with the utmost care and responsibility. I strive to uphold this commitment through unwavering integrity and transparency, providing open communication, straightforward legal counsel, and predictable billing. By pursuing excellence in every detail, I seek to honor the name of this firm—Alterum: Latin for ‘the other’—always looking beyond my own interests to faithfully serve yours.
"Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others" (Philippians 2:4)
